There Will Be Bugs shows audiences through the underground world of the bugs and guides them from room to room, introducing them to new characters and how they take on this new future. Join the Ant Scouts, build with the stick bug, or even attend the Moth Ball! Just be careful not to get tangled in the Spinster’s web, and keep your eyes out, you never know what could be hatching.
The Other Guise Theatre Company tasked eight young theatre students and professionals to take the sets and props from a previous production and turn them into a whole new show within a commercial space. There Will Be Bugs takes audiences through the world of the bugs as they adapt to a new world. The show is being performed at 910 Government St. The show opens on Thursday, July 25th and closes on Saturday, August 24th.
With a set built entirely with found materials and recycling, There Will Be Bugs reminds us at every turn and corner that we can always make something out of nothing. With consultation from The Sustainable Fox, the show aims to not just create as little waste as possible, but to divert as much trash as possible to turn it into treasure.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
Other Guise Theatre and the ‘There Will Be Bugs’ team gather, create, and perform on the land of the lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. We pay our respect and gratitude to them as the original caretakers, and as they continue to foster and forge a relationship to the land today. We are committed to learning about the history of the land, its peoples, and the ongoing colonial violence and genocide they face in order to move forward in a good way.
